Privacy
Tinycap collects no data. It has no account, no analytics and no ads, and your recordings and screenshots stay on your Mac.
Your recordings and screenshots
Tinycap writes files only to the folder you choose (~/Movies/Tinycap unless you pick another) and to its own temporary folder while a recording is being trimmed. Nothing is uploaded. Screenshots are saved without location, camera or device details.
Screen Recording permission
macOS asks you to allow Screen Recording the first time you capture. Tinycap uses it only while you are selecting, recording or taking a screenshot, and only for the window, screen or area you pick.
Network
- App Store version: makes no network connections. The App Store handles updates.
- Direct download: once a day, if "Check for updates daily" is on, it fetches the list of releases from GitHub, and downloads an update from GitHub when you choose to install one. No information about you or your Mac is added to those requests. GitHub sees them as it sees any web request; see GitHub's privacy statement.
Bug reports and feedback
Report a Bug and Send Feedback open a form on GitHub in your browser. A bug report fills in Tinycap's version and build, your macOS version, your Mac's chip and how you installed Tinycap; you can see and change all of it before you submit, and nothing is sent unless you do. Copy Diagnostics puts the same details on your clipboard and sends nothing.
Children
Tinycap collects nothing from anyone, including children.
Changes and contact
